In Matthew 5:13-14, Jesus calls us to be “salt” and “light.” Among many other uses, salt in Jesus’ time was used to preserve and flavor food. It was also used in medicines to speed healing and recovery. Light dispels darkness and allows others to see clearly.
The great thing is, salt doesn’t have to try to be salt and light does not have to try to be light. Their properties go with them wherever they go. As Christians, whatever sphere of influence we have, we are called to be salt and light.
We are called to help flavor, heal, and influence using the talents and gifts God has entrusted to us. We are called to the great commission (telling others about Jesus) as well as the cultural commission (being Jesus in our culture) and here at Timbuktoons we want to be intentional about both.
In light of that, Timbuktoons has been pitching some of our show ideas to some major networks and distributors. Please pray that we will have an opportunity to be salt and light in today’s children’s media landscape.
