Nashville Trip in a Nutshell

January 12, 2009

First day. See, we still had energy at this point.

Here’s the short version of the trip. Ready?…Breath in……

Sunday: had lunch w/ the family after church then picked up Sean and hit the road: stopped to eat at Sonny’s BBQ north of Atlanta and saw a 50 foot moving chicken, felt I needed an iPhone when Sean kept triangulating our location; got to Opryland Hotel and couldn’t believe how big it was, got a call from our good bud Clayton Poland and ate dinner at 9pm in a boxing ring (no joke). No one got hurt. Parked in the $19 per day parking. Went to bed.

Monday: Set up the booth first thing in the morning, wished I had an iPhone to blog while we set up and bumped into old friends. Hit the gym (best equipment I’ve ever seen in the Opryland Hotel gym…only thing is you get a work out just getting there because it was at the other end of the hotel which should have it’s own zip code); manned the booth for several hours of resource center time; made some new friends; got some grub; hit the sack.

Tuesday: rinse and repeat (minus the booth set-up); had the funniest/weirdest shuttle bus ride to the nearby mall (it was raining so the shuttle seemed like a wise choice instead of walking the very short distance to the mall. 35 minutes later we arrived at the mall. I think an elderly woman using a walker beat us to the food court ) hung out w/ some good friends for dinner (Uncle C, Jeremy and Beth, Keith Coast, Ben, Rachael, Dave A., Clayton P and a bunch of others…Thanks for hanging out!); Wished I had an iphone to blog it all in real time;  WALKED back to the hotel in about 5 minutes; Got some sleep….after hearing many funny country sayings from Clayton Poland.

Wednesday: Got up early for a slew of meetings in Franklin, TN and “Historic” Franklin where I got a souvenir (see previous blog post), and ate the historic Puckett’s with our sound designer Michael Hill at a table next to Audio Adrenaline (although I didn’t notice it was them until we were leaving); meetings lasted all day and didn’t get back in time to man the booth so Sean Copley, our insanely creative Creative Director and our good friend Clayton Poland held the fort down (Thanks Bros!!!); manned the booth and sold products until closing time, then we had the fastest break down ever with the help of Clayton and Michael Hill (we officially beat “Uncle Charlie” and “Group” in the booth breakdown race. Granted they had much more booth space to breakdown, but hey…that was part of my winning breakdown strategy.); wished I had an iPhone to chronicle the race; hit the sack.

Thursday: got up early for more meetings in Franklin…this time at Cracker Barrell; felt like a zombie; had a great meeting; hit the road; felt like a zombie; got some coffee; felt a little better; drove some more; hit some construction traffic; got an energy drink to become slightly more human; hit Atlanta rush hour; got home tired but thankful to see my family; thought I needed an iPhone.

…exhale. Whew!

Today: Finally got an iPhone. Life is good.
